Hermes Torres

Hermes Torres was born and raised in New York City of Puerto Rican parents. He has been creating art since his youth; attended the High School of Art & Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology earning a BFA in Advertising / Graphic Design. He later received his MFA in Painting from City College. Hermes has exhibited nationally and internationally and his works are in collections in the USA and Europe. He continues to create his works in his studio located in Spanish Harlem (El Barrio) NYC.

Along with his work as an artist, Hermes has been a member of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s community for more than three decades. His service to FIT has been as educator in the Textile Surface Design department and the Department of Student Life.

Hermes Torres is also an athlete with over forty years of experience in Dance and the Olympic Sport of Judo
